2017-18 Sumner HS Spartan Band & Color Guard

10/16 thru 10/29 (Updated 10/15/17)

....................................................................................

We had a great time with the Sumner HS Jazz D at Disneyland this past week both with the workshop and performance as well as the over-the-top Disney Halloween Party on Tuesday night.  Thanks again to the several parents and families who attended and cheered us on at our performance in the smoke on Monday morning (there were several fires within about 10 miles of
the park, so it made for a very strange orange sky - maybe Halloween-colored).  I'm glad we were able to go and it was a terrific experience, so freshmen, maybe we'll look at going again in 3 years so you may get the chance to experience it as well.  By the way, for parents and families who weren't able to go and still wanted to hear the group perform their "Disneyland Set" of pieces, we're having one final performance of Jazz D this Tuesday night October 17th at 6:30PM in the PAC as we perform at the Daffodil Princess Coronation (we'll actually perform before the event begins, so we should be done before 7:00PM).  This is our first Competition-Week of the school-year, as we prepare for Saturday's Puget Sound Festival of Bands at Everett (the Time-Line/Information Forms and the Permission Forms are in the BLAST).  We always do our best in performance (as you hopefully saw on Friday night at the Football Game halftime), but we certainly ramp it up to a higher level when we are competing - not against other Marching Bands, but rather again a standard of excellence that all of the groups are trying to attain.  We have 3 different opportunities to compete and get judges comments - this Saturday in Everett, next Saturday at our own Sunset Festival of Bands (though technically we don't compete as the host-Band, but we get scored and judged just like every other group so we see how we are improving), and our final competition at the Auburn Veterans Day Parade and Field Show Competition on Saturday November 11th, where we will hopefully put it all together.  It's going to be a fun, busy, tiring, but exciting 4 weeks leading up until November 11th, so here we go with our schedule:
